April Teen Vogue 2009

After reading through issues of Teen Vogue, I am normally left thinking, "Oh, my. Why did I subscribe to this magazine again?" and comforted solely through the thought that it cost $5/year for 12 issues. But today, after flipping through the pages while eating Tostito's Restaraunt Style tortilla chips and salsa (that my dad incorrectly bought yesterday at Wal Mart. I wanted Hint of Lime chips...) with the wafting smell of perfume samples from the magazine. It was not a pleasant mix, but the magazine was very nice overall.
1. The cover is very fresh and the colors used are not too neon ish gross or serious, but a perfect mix of spring without classic spring colors.
I love the advertisements, they're very nicely done, especially : COACH. I sort of hate this brand, but I cannot deny the wonderful ness that Ali Michael has brought to this ad campaign. (Ok so I also liked their ad campaign with Irina Lazareanu, but this one was so much cuter/ sweeter.) I love love love all the 4 pages of super Ali spread across my hands.
Favorite Editorial: Blues Traveler with Jac and Ansel Elgort, shot by Arthur Elgort. SOO CUTE! omg the girl is pretty and the boy is cute. I love every single spread, you can see the spring spreading around the eco nature scenes. Ahh, I will scan every single page of this editorial later.
The next editorial (Twilight) sort of SUCKED. It screamed "drama wannabe drama queen" shit and I was like "ugh, I'm so over it" and didn't bother to examine the clothing. I figure I will when I'm bored enough.
I don't care about any of the "hot" music people: lily allen, ladyhawke, pshh I don't care. Let's interview Rilo Kiley or Bishop Allen, please.
OOH AND THEY GAVE BISHOP ALLEN 2.5/4 stars and Kelly Clarkson 3.5/4 LIKE NOOOO. I didn't even know Bishop Allen was like "new" and "hip" or whatever it is kids my age these days are saying... I was listening to Bishop Allen this weekend, thinking it was a band like Iron and Wine that I'd just never discovered, and loving them. They're definitely skyrocketing to my last.fm past 7 days list...

ALSO: I like the Emma Roberts shoot, she's really grown and I can admire her beauty now. haha like before I couldn't? Idk. I liked Unfabulous, though. Favorite show on Nick? besides Ned's Unclassified, maybe. Tie?

EWW hate the 4 page spread featuring Agyness Deyn, Rhianna, and Ashley Tisdale's fashion spree things. OK mostly just Agyness and Ashley's. Rhianna is ok but I don't like her in that new Unicef Gucci commercial.

AHH FINAL EDITORIAL: adored it! so cute and fresh and whatever over adjectives are used to describe spring. ENCHANTED SOLDIER, I think they called it, and it is so lovely and different but not radically different to be like "freakkk" and the colors are so freshly pale, unlike some of Teen Vogue's past editorials with such saturated colors that I can't distinguish colors in reality because they're so pale.

Ok so overall impressed (: for Teen Vogue.

F/W 2009 thoughts

I wrote these thoughts on October 21, 2008 while watching various fashion podcasts of the F/W 2009 season. edited for your eye pleasure

Christopher Bailey => Burberry
- Love the colors (melancholy dark nature), nostalgia, rain, lovely, flower, textures.

Giles
-pacman ! colors,

Christopher Kane
- Weird circle thing is remarkable! Srsly. and those shoes are like, killer.

Alberta Ferretti
- Awesome fringe stuff and color, loose sheer weird colored leggings. A bit too fringy, like carpet, though...

Jil Sander
- lovely lovely earrings!, fringes weren't that great... color is great. lovely contour

Bottega Veneta
- Um. Wtf plastic? No. This was supposed to be the "earthy" collection but I hate the colors and textures. although i liked a few things... like the ribbon green dresses.

Prada
- I actually like it! love the wrinkles. I know I complained bout Prada before, but I like it now. and I love how everybody walked really slow because the shoes were wayyy too high. haha Miuccia blamed it on the socks. they'll be lowered for mass production.

Marni
- wow. Like, what people would wear on "wacky tacky day". seriously wayy over load.

Roberto Cavalli
- effing gorgeous backdrop; love love him. he made me fall in love with his leopard printed dress (which I used to hate). although this one reminded me of a rainfall in a garden. ahh, I love it. although some pieces reminded me of Victoria's Secret. geez. Très Teen Vogue. some are ugly though... I love the hand painted dresses and those porcelain ones. Very Chinese music in the background, I think.

Gucci
- ehh. Colors are ugly.

Allesandro Dell'Acqua
- I like it, but not too much. hmm. interesting clothes and knits (underwear shorts)... *notices baggy boots*

Dolce & Gabbanna
- I like the pajama concept, but the colors and jewelry were too much for me.
